- Arrange multiple visits over several weeks so the student can explore classrooms, playgrounds, and other key areas and meet the staff (kaiako, teacher aide, support staff). Tailor these visits to meet ākonga learning needs.
- Ensure staff are well informed about any additional needs ākonga has and prepare accordingly.
- Introduce ākonga to specific kaiako or other school support staff who may support their special interests (for example, gardeners, caretakers, support roles).
